Zaks, who recently stepped in to work on the Broadway musical The Addams Family, will take the reins of the musical, which is based on the 1992 film same title. Peter Schneider staged the original West End premiere of Sister Act. Anthony van Laast, who choreographed in London, will repeat his duties for Broadway. The Broadway incarnation will begin rehearsals in early 2011 in anticipation of a spring opening at a theatre-to-be-announced. Casting will begin in late July. Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment U.K. produce.

The Tony Awards, which have been presented at Radio City Music Hall for over a decade, may be moving far uptown next year.

For the past year,Christian Dior, that show has been "Glee" on FOX. The series, which follows the adventures of a high school show choir in Lima, OH, plucks at the heartstrings and mines the nostalgia of every born theatre geek out there - a good 75 percent of whom (caution: broad generalization ahead) very likely participated in some sort of socially ostracizing music or drama club during their formative years.

Burgeoning the appeal of the show among its fans is that some of its stars are recognized by stage devotees as members of their own circle. "Glee" has made national names out of Light in the Piazza actor Matthew Morrison and Spring Awakening actress Lea Michele. Room has also been made for guest actors such as John Lloyd Young (Jersey Boys), Neil Patrick Harris (Assassins), Idina Menzel (Wicked) and Kristin Chenoweth (Promises, Promises), as well as veterans like Victor Garber and Debra Monk.

Every now and then, the theatre community embraces a television show as a kindred spirit.

Here's another question. When you picture the Stage Manager, do you ever see Helen Hunt?

"Glee" lovers had reason to be gleeful this week, as the show was nominated for 19 Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. The new series also received a slew of other nominations, including acting nominations for Morrison (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series),MLB Jerseys, Michele (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), Jane Lynch (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series), Chris Colfer (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), Mike O'Malley (Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series), Neil Patrick Harris (Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series) and Kristin Chenoweth (Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series).

Unchain My Heart, the Ray Charles musical that had been scheduled to begin previews Oct. 8 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, will now open on Broadway in spring 2011 at a Shubert theatre to be announced.

See, Radio City Music Hall is booked for June 2011. (Why that venue would do that, knowing that the Tony returns every year at the same time, is an interesting question). So new digs were needed. The New York Post reports that the likely venue for the 2011 Tony Awards will be the United Palace Theatre, which is located at Broadway and 175th Street, an intersection in the Washington Heights neighborhood that I doubt many Broadway producers have ever seen.

Ticketbuyers at the long-running Off-Broadway revival of the classic play have been seeing that famous Academy Award winner play the iconic role since she joined the cast on July 6. Now, this production already broke the mold of that role when deadpan David Cromer, created the Stage Manager part as it premiered. He was young, which was different. And he was the production's director, which was very different. Since then, we've had a successful of just plain actors. But the entrance of an actress turns the character on its head again. There have been more female Hamlets than there have been female Stage Managers. (Has there ever been one in New York?) And a female movie-star Stage Manager, well, that's just something new.

Jerry Zaks will helm the new musical Sister Act when the tuner arrives on Broadway in spring 2011, it was announced.

The principal cast is expected to stay with the production, among them Brandon Victor Dixon as Ray Charles.

For the new show, Dixon apparently gave up the chance to repeat his leading role in the Off-Broadway-to-Broadway transfer of Kander and Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys, which will open on Broadway Oct. 31 at the Lyceum Theatre. Cast in his role is Joshua Henry, who created the "Favorite Son" military hero in Broadway's American Idiot.

In the Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda must be ecstatic.

When you picture the Stage Manager character in Thornton Wilder's play Our Town, what do you see? A crusty old Yankee? A elderly man in suspenders and wire-rim glasses?

Startup costs: $50,000

While Keeling lost money on his first clients, he soon partnered with sports outfitters and began to turn a profit. In 2006 his company began investing in vacation home rentals. He is currently planning an oceanfront hotel on a 65-acre plot that he owns. "The scariest part was leaving the track," he says, "and thinking that doors close when the corporate ladder goes away." Instead, former colleagues are visiting — and, Keeling says,Primp, finding it painful to leave.

Weeks after the trip, Keeling, now 34, moved to Brazil. "He came back having had an epiphany that this wasn't what he wanted to do with his life," says Chris Kerezsi, a former Sullivan & Cromwell colleague who worked on a deal with Keeling until midnight right before he left for Rio. "People were shocked."

Favorite local surf spot: Praia Mole Beach

From Endless Meetings to the Endless Summer

Number of world-class surf breaks in Florianopolis: 12

Average price for a 4-bedroom beach house on the island: $750,000

Hours per week at Sullivan & Cromwell: 80

The business plan called for arranging trips, including lodging, nightlife guides, and sports instruction such as surfing lessons. Running a small business was a struggle at first. "Being at a huge law firm is like steering the Titanic," he says. "You don't want to sink it. When you're an entrepreneur, it's like driving a motorboat; you have to be more agile and dynamic."

The trail that leads from the Ivy League through law school to white-shoe firm Sullivan & Cromwell rarely ends at a remote Brazilian beach. Yet it did for Hans Keeling after just three years of working on mergers and acquisitions for the New York City law firm. A 2004 trip to Brazil convinced Keeling he would rather advise clients on their vacations than on their capital markets transactions.

Cost of building a 75-suite oceanfront boutique hotel in Florianopolis: Approximately $20 million

Average cost for a weeklong stay in Florianopolis: $3,000

Months it took to launch Nexus Surf: 4

Number of tourists who visit each year: 1 million-plus

Hours per week at Nexus Surf: 40

Average number of clients per year: 300

Keeling hoped to enjoy a laid-back Brazilian lifestyle and still work as a lawyer. So he joined the Rio law office of Pinheiro Neto Advogados. "Brazil didn't have the high-powered careers," he says. "Everyone was living in the moment." When Keeling's parents visited, though, work left him little time to be with them. Weighing his options, Keeling remembered a trip he'd taken to the Brazilian island of Florianopolis, with its 42 pristine beaches, Europhile culture,Seven, and vibrant nightlife. The relatively remote location struck him as an excellent destination to open a business. That fall he relocated there and launched a travel and adventure company, Nexus Surf.

Pattinson, 24, is a distant cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry on their father's side, probably through the Pickering family who lived in northern England in the early 1500s,Calvin Klein, Ancestry.com said.

(Reporting by Jill Serjeant; Editing by Bob Tourtellotte)

Genealogy web site Ancestry.com said on Wednesday that the British actor is distantly related to Vlad III Dracula — the cruel 15th century ruler who inspired Bram Stoker's literary Count Dracula in 1897.

Family history experts said Pattinson and Vlad — the Transylvania-born despot also known as Vlad the Impaler — are likely related through today's British royal family.

Pattinson plays love-sick vampire Edward Cullen in the smash hit film franchise based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer. The first two movies earned a combined $1.1 billion at world-wide box offices. The third film "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" opens on June 30.

"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to 'The Twilight Saga',Christian Audigier," said Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Bite into "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson's past and what do you get? A blood-curdling connection to Dracula, the biggest vampire of them all.

Pattinson isn't the only movie star whose past bears an eerie resemblance to his screen persona. Last year, Ancestry.com said that actress Emma Watson, who plays teen witch Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movies, is related to a 16th century woman accused of witchcraft.

"Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he is playing on screen," Tyler said.
